Community Impact

United Way believes that the best way to make an
impact is to focus on the root causes of the most serious
problems.  It takes the whole community -- working
together -- to create measurable results and improve
the lives of more people than any of us could be working
alone.

The United Way of Sumter, Clarendon & Lee Counties
has partnered with key organizations and community
leaders in our three counties to determine the most
pressing issues facing our region and developed a
community assessment of the findings called "Facing
Facts."  As a result of this effort, staff and volunteers
are redirecting their focus on issues that have been
identified as critical in our community:

  • Adult Literacy

  • Early Childhood Education

  • Teen Pregnancy Prevention

  • Drug/Alcohol Abuse Among Youth

  • Emergency Food and Shelter
